Adobe
Acrobat PC and
Macintosh
Portable Document Format (PDF)
We can now accept digital artwork as Adobe Acrobat PDF (Portable
Document Format) files. The advantages of this format are:
| |
The
same files can be read and processed on both the Mac and Windows platforms.
|
| |
All
font information is embedded with the file. |
| |
All
text and graphics are anchored and will print as supplied. |
| |
You
can easily view the files on screen and print them on any printer
for checking, prior to sending to us for printing. |
| |
The
files are more compact and are less prone to output errors than original
Postscript files. |
| |
It
is possible for us to make minor alterations to the file, should you
spot an error after sending it to us. |
Although
there are several ways to produce PDF files for high resolution printing,
the only way is by distilling your file, either through your DTP application
if it supports this option, or by distilling a Postscript file direct
to Acrobat Distiller. The latter involves first creating a Postscript
file.
It is very important to first set the preferences within Acrobat Distiller,
using the relevant settings below. This will ensure the retention of all
file information.
