| Supplying
Artwork on Disk
Please
read the following information before submitting work, to help us complete
your job in the required time and fulfil your order to satisfaction.
IMPORTANT:
Due to incompatibility between some applications and our system, files
will need to be assessed for time and work involved in processing them,
prior to entering into any contract. Please contact us prior to submitting
your order to enable us to estimate price and turnaround.
GRAPHICS
/ IMAGES
For optimum quality, all colour and greyscale pictures should be scanned
at 300-350dpi when placed at 100%. These should be adjusted pro-rata if
reducing or enlarging eg: if enlarging to 200% scan at 600-700dpi; if
reducing to 50% scan at 150-175dpi. All line arts should be scanned at
a minimum resolution of 800dpi.
COLOUR
SHIFTS
Some software packages do not support CMYK, the printing industry's standard
colour model. We, therefore, have to convert all pictures and tints from
RGB to CMYK, using a standard Euro Cromalin ICC colour conversion profile.
This matches the CMYK colour as closely as possible to the original RGB,
however, because RGB has a wider colour space (Gamma) than CMYK, colours
can often change from those seen on screen.
BLEED
Where the image runs to the edge of the document, a thin white line may
occur when we cut the job to size, due to the tolerances of the guillotine.
Therefore, it is necessary for all images/tints to be extended off the
edge of the document, by at least 3mm. This allows the guillotine to cut
through the image, thus eliminating this problem. It should also be noted,
that where the image is not to bleed off, an area of at
least 3mm should be allowed, between the image and the edge of the document.
POSTSCRIPT
We can accept most documents in their native format, providing any graphics
and all the fonts you have used are supplied. We do, however, prefer documents
to be in POSTSCRIPT FORMAT, which is explained below. The advantages of
this format, are that there is no need to supply any other files, apart
from the resultant Postscript file and once the file has been saved, nothing
can move out of place.
Before
saving your file as a Postscript file, you will need to install our required
PPD (Postscript Printer Description), using the Adobe PS driver.
These
can both be obtained via the links below. Right click on the links and
choose 'save target as'. Save these files into a specific folder created
by you, on your C drive.
MEDIA
We can accept files on any of the following media:
Floppy
Disk / 250mb Zip / 100mb Zip / Email / CD
PLEASE
NOTE: When supplying artwork on disk,
you should always supply a 100% print-out .
PROOFS
We can supply proofs of your file, but this will only be a colour laser
print, which will not show an exact colour
match. For a colour-correct proof please ask for details.
